Abstract

Stroke is still one of the causes of high mortality rates in the world. Based on medical record data at Budhi Asih Hospital, many patients were diagnosed with ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes and underwent clinical examinations every month, the incidence of stroke was 104 cases in 2020-2021. This study aims to compare the results of examining blood lipid profiles between ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke patients. This type of research is comparative analysis with a quantitative approach. The research sample of medical record data was 104 samples obtained through total quota sampling. The results of this study showed that based on the age range, most cases of ischemic stroke were found in the age range of 51-60 years and >60 years in 18 cases (17.3%), while cases of hemorrhagic stroke were most commonly found in the age range > 60 years, namely 19 cases (18.3%). Based on gender, men had the highest prevalence of ischemic stroke patients 30 cases (28.8%) and hemorrhagic stroke patients 28 cases (26.9%). based on the results of the t-independent and Mann Whitney - U tests on total cholesterol (p <0.002), HDL (p <0.002), LDL cholesterol (p <0.007), and triglycerides (p <0.006). In conclusion, in this study there were significant differences in lipid profile levels between ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke patients where the p-value was <0.05.
