A Systematic Literature Review of Factors Affecting Hemostasis After Transradial Percutaneous Coronary Intervention
Keywords:
hemostasis, transradial PCI, complications, radial artery occlusion, TR BandAbstract
Introduction: Hemostasis after transradial percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is crucial to prevent complications such as hematoma and radial artery occlusion (RAO). Although transradial access (TRA) is safer than the transfemoral approach, the factors influencing the success of hemostasis have not been fully defined.
Objective: To identify the factors affecting hemostasis success after transradial PCI. Methods: A Systematic Literature Review was conducted following PRISMA guidelines, with searches in PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar. Ten articles meeting the criteria were analyzed qualitatively. Results: Factors influencing hemostasis include patient characteristics (gender, age, BMI, comorbidities), procedural factors (sheath size, number of punctures, procedure duration), and hemostasis techniques (method and duration of compression). The use of TR Band with a patent hemostasis technique and shorter compression times reduces the risk of RAO. Conclusion: The success of hemostasis after transradial PCI is influenced by both clinical and technical factors. Evidence-based individualized strategies can reduce complications and improve patient outcomes.
